Motivation is what gets you started.
= Motivation is something that gets you started.
Habits is what keeps you going.
=Habits is something that keeps you going.
1. some might deem that just another administrative burden
2. To accelerate acceptance of something
(你看something that = what吧!)
于是:To accelerate acceptance of what some might deem just another administrative burden,
3. science funders and research institutions must work to streamline the process and to explain the need and benefits
Kevin is working on the Daily Sentence task. To accelerate acceptance of what some might deem useless, Kevin spares no effort to perfect it.
When Will the Gender Gap in Science Disappear? A new study estimates that it will take 16 years for women and men to publish papers in equal numbers.(一項(xiàng)新的研究評(píng)估到男女在論文出版數(shù)量上需要花16年才能持平。) For physics, it will take 258.(而就物理學(xué)而言,這個(gè)時(shí)間需要258年)。
The results give a sense of the gender gaps in science, but Holman cautions that even when parity in publishing is reached, that shouldn’t be seen as evidence that sexism has been banished. “Just because the data say that biology is at 40 percent women, it doesn’t mean that those women aren’t facing major gender challenges in their workplaces,” he says.
判斷
The female has gained the parity in science for the publishing equality.
The results give a sense of the gender gaps in science, but Holman cautions that even when parity in publishing is reached, that shouldn’t be seen as evidence that sexism has been banished.
1.A Give a sense of B : A 使人感覺(jué)到了B
2.caution:
3.parity= equality 公平
4.sexism:
6.even when:即使
The results give a sense of the gender gaps in science,
1.but Holman cautions that
2.even when parity in publishing is reached,
3.that shouldn’t be seen as evidence/ that sexism has been banished.
此部分翻譯的時(shí)候?yàn)榱送槪旱谝粋€(gè)that的被動(dòng)可以轉(zhuǎn)譯為主動(dòng)。第二個(gè)That從句中的被動(dòng)可以直譯為被動(dòng);
“Just because the data say that biology is at 40 percent women, it doesn’t mean that those women aren’t facing major gender challenges in their workplaces,” he says.
1.he says.
2. “Just because the data say that biology is at 40 percent women,
3,it doesn’t mean that those women aren’t facing major gender challenges in their workplaces,
The female has gained the parity in science /for the publishing equality.
The event was the inaugural stop in Community Boost, a kind of roving technical college that Facebook plans to bring to at least 30 mid-sized U.S. cities this year. Each installment offers a few days of lectures, smaller “breakout” sessions, and one-on-one consultations, free for anyone who shows up. The goal, according to Facebook, is to teach business owners and employees the “digital skills” to make it online.
Community Boost is set to train Facebook on the digital skills in mid-sized cities.
